Optimal Power Allocation in Downlink Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA)

Fifth generation of wireless cellular networks promise to enable better services anytime and anywhere. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) stands as a suitable accessing scheme due the ability allow users share same radio resource simultaneously via different domains (power, code, etc.). Through introduced power domain, multiplexed at within levels. This paper studies allocation in downlink NOMA, an optimization problem formulated that aims maximize system's sum rate. To solve problem, genetic algorithm based (GAPA) was proposed uses (GA) employs heuristics search for solutions. The performance compared with full (FSPA) gives optimal performance. Results show GAPA reaches near FSPA lower complexity. In addition, simulated various user paring algorithms. Channel state sorting pairing achieves best comparing random exhaustive pairing.
